Airmic 2016 – The clock is ticking…

Airmic 2016 – The clock is ticking…so much to see and do and so little time.
With just a few days to go, all of the preparation for our clients is fully underway – exhibition stands have been built, furniture ordered and graphics and content for the AV heading for the finish line!

Looking at the Conference itself, we can certainly see some common themes running through the key messages and workshops, and it is always interesting to get differing views – nothing like a good debate to get the blood going!

JLT is looking at the evolving threat of terrorism – it will be interesting to hear the views from this workshop and how they differ or agree with those at the recent BIBA Conference. Sharing similar ground are Allianz and XL Catlin – both looking at the issues surrounding and managing a ‘crisis’ and a ‘kidnap’ situation. Research goes head-to-head with the legal boys as Mactavish battles with Herbert Smith Freehills on the subject of the Insurance Act – and for those that can’t get enough of the Act, both are on separate days so you don’t have to miss either! Ernst and Young is suggesting the ‘death of Captives?’ in their workshop on the Tuesday. With all of this doubt, it is good to see QBE looking at what ‘success’ looks like in risk managed programmes.

Looking into the future, lots of workshops are trying to give us insight into the unknown – Swiss Re is tackling emerging trends and risks, Lloyd’s is tackling Cyber and Generali are playing with Drones! With huge interest in ‘driverless’ vehicles, HDI is giving us their thoughts on telematics  and FM Global talk about the challenges of managing large projects.

Over the 3 days, there is certainly much to keep the delegates occupied – so it really is ‘you pays your money and takes your choice…’. Interestingly, there is little being said about the implications of the Brexit Vote in June, but I’m sure that this will be weighing heavily on the discussions. It looks as though Airmic has put together a really challenging and thought-provoking schedule, so I’m looking forward to watching Airmic TV to see what the delegates think about the sessions and what is keeping them awake at night!

See you in Harrogate!
