Last week saw us take up residence in Harrogate for the annual Airmic Conference. The event continues to flourish and 2016 saw it step up to a new level again, with more attendees and exhibitors than last year.
For the third year, we worked alongside Airmic to produce AirmicTV, their official media channel. Conducting somewhere in the region of 60 interviews during the Conference, we had the pleasure of speaking to Airmic’s key partners, workshop & seminar presenters and many of Airmic’s own senior staff. We have conducted around 200 interviews since we started doing this with Airmic and were delighted with the seniority of those that chose to speak to us this year, which we take as a measure of the importance now paid to using channels such as this to deliver key business messages.
From Airmic’s perspective, innovation, scenario analysis, enterprise risk management, technical guides and results of their latest survey were clearly top of their minds. Airmic CEO John Hurrell, highlighting the results of the survey in his interview, identified cyber as a target concern, which in his words stand out a country mile ahead from the others in risk managers’ minds. This was perhaps not unsurprisingly echoed by most of the Airmic 2016 Partners interviewed too, but it was interesting to see how this had splintered off into wider areas of concern, such as reputational and intangible risks.
