LinkedIn’s exciting new update

Digital Marketing, Latest News

July 27, 2017

The world of LinkedIn as we know it is changing. The social platform has introduced an array of new features, with the latest addition being the ability for users to upload multiple photos to their posts.

The more media the merrier?

The change follows in the footsteps of Twitter, which allows four images to be uploaded per tweet. This move by LinkedIn to allow users to upload more media in a single post shows their continued efforts to catch up with the functionality of other social platforms, and demonstrates their aim to increase the volume and quality of engaging content shared and seen by its members.

LinkedIn’s Senior Director of Corporate and Product Communications, Julie Inouye suggested the new feature could be used to share photos from industry events or offsite company events that “capture your company culture.”

However, as a Marketing agency with a specialisation in Digital Marketing for the financial, insurance and legal services within the B2B sector, our only reservation regarding this new change would be the dreaded influx of even more ‘Facebook’ style posts with puzzles and riddles – we’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, LinkedIn is not the place!

Here at brandformula, we always encourage our clients to make their content as engaging as possible through imagery and creativity to capture their audience and communicate their message. Therefore, we are very much looking forward to being able to incorporate this new feature. Whether this update will apply to company pages as well as individual profiles is yet to be mentioned – but we have our fingers firmly crossed!

Multiple photo uploads are currently available now on LinkedIn on iOS and will be available soon for the Android and desktop versions.

What else is new?

As well as the new image feature, LinkedIn has also introduced new functionality allowing demographic tracking of visitors into eight categories including their job title, industry and location. Alongside this, page administrators are now able to export reports allowing easier data compilation – something that we are already noticing the benefits of in the digital reports we produce for our clients.

LinkedIn’s Marketing Manager, Sudeep Eldo Cherian, said: “We’re constantly thinking about how we can continue to evolve the reporting and analytics that we offer to marketers so that they can make better decisions.”

Confused by all the changes?

We are keen to see how this affects engagement for all of our clients and are always up-to-date with the latest advancements in all things social media.
